Ausangate Trek 4D/3N
DISCRIPTION:
This 4 day tour to Ausangate is an out of the ordinary option that allows you to experience the beauty of the Andes in a perfect combination with machupicchu that will allow you to enjoy the beautiful natural attractions, which include ausangate’s beautiful glaciers, colorful lakes, precious wildlife and colorful mountains, and the last day you will enjoy the wonder of the world (machupicchu). In addition, you will hike through remote Andean villages that still maintain their traditions.

DAY 1:
CUSCO – TINKI- UPIS- HOT SPRINGS:
We will pick you up at 4:00 am from your hotel and drive in our private bus for approximately two hours to Tinki where we will make a stop and take the opportunity to visit the Tinki village and buy some snacks. Then we will drive for one hour to upispampa. Once we arrive to upispampa we will have our first breakfast then you will meet your crew: chef, support staff (porters) and muleteers. Then we prepare for the three-hour hike to your lunch spot in the village of Upis, in the foothills of Ausangate Mountain. After lunch, we will continue our two-hour descent to the community of UPIS, located at 4,410 meters above sea level. Tonight we will camp near the thermo-medicinal waters. Take some time to relax and enjoy the warm waters in the cool mountain climate in the afternoon. After enjoying the thermal medicinal waters we get ready to enjoy dinner and sleep.

DAY 2:
HOTS SPRING – PUCA COCHA:
We will wake you up at 05:00 am with a coca tea or coffee in your tent, after packing your things you will enjoy breakfast and we get ready for a 3 hour hike to the Arapa pass (4968m) Along the way we will observe local farmers and alpacas, the snow-capped Ausangate. We will be able to see condors, chinchillas and vicuñas. Also, we will enjoy colorful lakes and we will arrive to our campsite of Puca Cocha where we will be surrounded by high mountains and incredible hanging glaciers our tents will be ready for when we arrive we will take a siesta and have lunch. As this camp is close to Puca Cocha Lake, you will go to the lake where you will see many types of ducks, Andean geese and many other types of birds. Then you will have dinner and appreciate the Andean costelacion (southern cross).

DAY 3:
PUCA COCHA – ANANTA – KAYRAWIRI:
After a good night’s rest we prepare for the 4 day trek. Today is a challenging day, you start with the pass of Puca Cocha 5050m.a.s.l. the very colorful mountains surrounding you. As you have a spectacular view of the Ausangate mountain and colorful glacial lakes then you will enter the valley of the Red Mountain, an untouched landscape with vivid colors everywhere, and surrounded by llamas and alpaca just near you we will arrive to the lunch place. After enjoying lunch, we will climb the second pass called Warmi Saya pass 4,500m.a.s.l. from where you can see this incredible Rainbow Mountain in the distance, but you are not there yet! From this place, we descend to go around the lake and continue walking through a Peruvian plain until we reach our campsite.

DAY 4:
KAYRAWIRI – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – RED VALLEY – CUSCO:
After a good night’s rest we prepare for the last one hour hike uphill to reach the top of the colorful mountain, we will be the first to reach the mountain. Upon arrival, the views will be breathtaking, and as you will be the first to arrive very early, you will be able to get spectacular photos of all the colors. Your guide will explain about the colors and minerals. After enjoying the RAINBOW MOUNTAIN for an hour, we will head to visit the RED VALLEY, which will take another 30 minutes. Once you are ready to leave, you will descend for one hour and forty minutes to the end of the trail, where you will say goodbye to your trekking equipment and continue from this point alone with your guide. It will be an hours drive to Cusco and you will be dropped off at your hotel.

- This trek covers a total distance of 40 km at high altitude. We recommend that you acclimatise in Cusco 2 or 3 days before doing the Inca Trail tour.
