LARES
Today the people of the province of Cusco and many travellers can relax and strengthen themselves in one of the five pools of the thermal baths of Lares, which range from 28° to 35°, taking advantage of one of the many natural sources of thermal water, formed by volcanic activity, which are found throughout the Lares Valley.
Lares is not only about its baths and hot springs, one only needs to look around to find oneself immersed in all that is the Lares Valley, a place that seems to have only recently been discovered, and which above all is being rediscovered for its enormous natural and cultural patrimony. The Lares Valley is surrounded by the magnificent peaks of the snow-capped mountains Verónica (5.900), Sawasiray, (5.700), Pitusiray and Chicón (5.500), and there are many lagoons of glacial formation, deep gorges with a subtropical climate and various species of flora and fauna.
The entire Lares Valley is a natural habitat for alpacas, llamas, vicuñas and also pumas and condors, very important animals for the Andean cosmovision. A walk through the Lares Valley is certainly something that will leave you speechless, not only because of the imposing mountains and Inca ruins along the way, but above all it is a way to get away from mass tourism, going in search of authentic corners of Peru. In the Lares Valley live small communities, where the ancient Quechua language is spoken and the peasants wear their multicoloured ponchos, maintaining customs and traditions from ancient times, and dedicating themselves to the breeding of llamas and alpacas, to the production of textiles and the cultivation of potatoes and
