For the excursion, we will pick you up around 7:00 a.m. and head to the village of Chinchero. The first stop will be the artisan market, where you will learn about the Andean weaving process and how alpaca and llama wool is extracted. Then, in the village of Chinchero, we will continue the tour, this time at the Inca site of Chinchero to visit the palace of Inca Manco Inca, the colonial temple, and the agricultural terraces.
Our guided tour of Chinchero lasts approximately one hour. After our visit, we will take the private bus to the Inca ruins of Moray for another guided tour, where we will explore the terraces of Moray, believed to have been an ancient Inca agricultural experiment. We will then continue driving for another 30 minutes to the salt mines of Maras, where we will see firsthand the method of salt extraction used since Inca times. Our next destination is Urubamba. We will arrive there around 12:00 noon. In this impressive city, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, we will continue our 30-minute tour until we reach the Inca site of Ollantaytambo. This ruin was built with pink granite rocks and is another impressive example of Inca craftsmanship.
Here you will see the second largest rock from the Inca period (90 tons) that was used as part of the Temple of the Sun. We will take a guided tour of the site. After exploring the Inca site of Ollantaytambo, we will head to the train station and then board the train to Aguas Calientes. The trip to Aguas Calientes takes two hours, and you will spend the night in Aguas Calientes in a comfortable hotel.
After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will only need to bring your backpack with everything you need. The hotel will store your luggage while you are at Machu Picchu. The bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu takes approximately 25 minutes. Once in Machu Picchu, the tour guide will take you directly to circuit two to take the classic photos and then offer you a three-hour guided tour, visiting the most important sites in Machu Picchu, during which you will learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire. You will also have enough time to explore on your own. We recommend that you return to Aguas Calientes at least two hours before your train departure. Once we return to Aguas Calientes, you will have time for lunch and to explore the town. After lunch, the tour guide will drop you off at the train station so you can board the train back to Ollantaytambo. The return train journey from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo takes approximately two hours. In Ollantaytambo, our staff will be waiting to take you back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.

As we approach the summit, the views become more impressive. Your guide will explain the fascinating geological formation of the painted hills. You will also enjoy a panoramic and close-up view of the majestic snow-capped Ausangate mountain.
After enjoying the beautiful views, we will walk for approximately 30 minutes to the Red Valley, which looks like something from another planet, a mountain filled with red color.
