Arrival in Cusco and acclimatization Welcome to the heart of the Inca Empire! Our team will meet you at the Cusco airport and transfer you to your comfortable hotel. The day is yours to acclimatize to the altitude (3,400 m/11,152 ft).

In the afternoon, the tour guide assigned to your tour will come to your hotel and take you on a walking tour. We will visit the street of the 12-angled stone, the Inca Museum, and the San Pedro Market. Here, we will learn about the origins and beginnings of Andean civilizations. Then, continuing with our tour, we will head inside the Qorikancha temple, the famous Temple of the Sun of ancient Qosqo. It was and continues to be the pinnacle of the organization, architecture, and religion of the Inca civilization. Likewise, its construction had already achieved the greatest technological advances of its time. After the walking tour, you will return to your hotel and the guide will give you a briefing for the next day when your tour will begin.

For the excursion, we will pick you up around 7:00 a.m. and head to the village of Chinchero. The first stop will be the artisan market, where you will learn about the Andean weaving process and how alpaca and llama wool is extracted. Then, in the village of Chinchero, we will continue the tour, this time at the Inca site of Chinchero to visit the palace of Inca Manco Inca, the colonial temple, and the agricultural terraces.
Our guided tour of Chinchero lasts approximately one hour. After our visit, we will take the private bus to the Inca ruins of Moray for another guided tour, where we will explore the terraces of Moray, believed to have been an ancient Inca agricultural experiment. We will then continue driving for another 30 minutes to the salt mines of Maras, where we will see firsthand the method of salt extraction used since Inca times. Our next destination is Urubamba. We will arrive there around 12:00 noon. In this impressive city, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, we will continue our 30-minute tour until we reach the Inca site of Ollantaytambo. This ruin was built with pink granite rocks and is another impressive example of Inca craftsmanship.
Here you will see the second largest rock from the Inca period (90 tons) that was used as part of the Temple of the Sun. We will take a guided tour of the site. After exploring the Inca site of Ollantaytambo, we will head to the train station and then board the train to Aguas Calientes. The trip to Aguas Calientes takes two hours, and you will spend the night in Aguas Calientes in a comfortable hotel.

After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will only need to bring your backpack with everything you need. The hotel will store your luggage while you are at Machu Picchu. The bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu takes approximately 25 minutes. Once in Machu Picchu, the tour guide will take you directly to circuit two to take the classic photos and then offer you a three-hour guided tour, visiting the most important sites in Machu Picchu, during which you will learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire. You will also have enough time to explore on your own. We recommend that you return to Aguas Calientes at least two hours before your train departure. Once we return to Aguas Calientes, you will have time for lunch and to explore the town. After lunch, the tour guide will drop you off at the train station so you can board the train back to Ollantaytambo. The return train journey from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo takes approximately two hours. In Ollantaytambo, our staff will be waiting to take you back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.

The day begins early with a direct pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 a.m. After a two-hour drive in our private van, we arrive at the village of Mollepata. Here you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious hot breakfast to fuel up for the day. After breakfast, we will drive another hour to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike.
We will begin the uphill hike, which takes approximately 1.5 hours, to the famous Lake Humantay (4200 m.a.s.l. / 13,779 ft).
Upon arrival at the lake, you will have plenty of time to explore its crystal clear waters. Your guide will show you the local flora and fauna. Next, we will perform an ancestral ceremony in homage to Pacha Mama and the Apus (mountain spirits).
After exploring, we will prepare to descend back to Soraypampa. There, we will take the bus back to Mollepata, where we will enjoy a delicious hot lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients.
After lunch, we will take our comfortable bus back to Cusco. We will arrive at your hotel around 5:00 p.m.

We will pick you up directly from your hotel in Cusco. Then, we will take a two-hour trip in our private van to the town of Cusipata, where you will enjoy a hearty hot breakfast to prepare for the high-altitude hike.
After breakfast, we will continue the trip for another hour to the starting point of the hike.
The hike to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) is approximately 3 km (1.86 miles). The trail is mostly flat, with a gradual, steep incline toward the end.
During the hike, you will see snow-capped peaks, wild birds, and local wildlife, including llamas and alpacas.
As we approach the summit, the views become more impressive. Your guide will explain the fascinating geological formation of the painted hills. You will also enjoy a panoramic and close-up view of the majestic snow-capped Ausangate mountain.
After enjoying the beautiful views, we will walk for approximately 30 minutes to the Red Valley, which looks like something from another planet, a mountain filled with red color. After visiting the Red Valley, we will descend and return to the bus station to go back to the town of Cusipata and enjoy our hot local lunch.
We will take our comfortable transportation back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 5:00 p.m.

Therefore, we will be concluding this incredible experience in Machu Picchu and Cusco, and you can let us know if you would like us to take you to the airport that same night after the tour or the following day.
