The Machu Picchu 4 days / 3 nights tour typically includes guided trekking through scenic routes such as the Ausangate Trek, transportation from Cusco, entrance fees to Machu Picchu, professional guides, meals during the trek, and camping equipment. It offers a well-balanced experience of adventure, culture, and nature, allowing ample time to acclimatize and explore the region thoroughly.

The Ausangate trek to Rainbow Mountain is a high-altitude trek that requires good physical fitness and acclimatization. Trekkers will encounter steep ascents and uneven terrain, often reaching altitudes above 5,000 meters (16,400 feet). Preparation is key, and the reward is breathtaking landscapes and the famous multicolored Rainbow Mountain, a must-see natural wonder.

This is one of our most challenging tours. It combines two days of strenuous, high-altitude trekking with a long travel day and an early start for Machu Picchu. Excellent physical condition is required.

We mandate a minimum of 3 full days of acclimatization in Cusco or the Sacred Valley (above 3,000m) before departure to mitigate the risk of severe altitude sickness.

Our guides are certified in wilderness first aid. We carry a satellite phone, oxygen, and a full medical kit. We have a clear emergency evacuation plan to get you to a medical facility as quickly as possible.

The pace is steady and determined. Due to the tight schedule, we need to cover significant distances each day. This is not a leisurely trek; it is a fast-paced expedition.

Emergency horses are available, but this trek is intended to be completed on foot. If you are concerned about your ability to complete the hike, please consider one of our longer Ausangate treks.

We book a comfortable and clean 3-star hotel with private bathrooms and hot water, such as Casa Andina, Tierra Viva, or a similar standard.

Yes, for an additional fee, you can upgrade your train service to the Vistadome, which features panoramic windows. Please request this at the time of booking.

We typically book Circuit 1 or 2, which provides the classic panoramic photo opportunities and a comprehensive tour of the main citadel. Circuit availability depends on when you book.

Due to the tight schedule of this specific tour and the separate entry times, it is not possible to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain with this itinerary.

Our mountain chefs prepare incredible, high-energy meals like quinoa soups, pasta dishes, chicken, trout, and fresh vegetables, all served in a dining tent.

We provide a private, portable toilet tent at each campsite for hygiene and to minimize environmental impact.

We ensure ethical treatment and fair wages for all our staff and animals. We also operate under strict «leave no trace» principles to protect the pristine environment.

To ensure safety and a quality experience on this demanding route, we cap our groups at a maximum of 10 trekkers.

The dry season, from April to October, is the best time, offering clearer skies and more stable trail conditions.

Yes, you can securely store your main luggage at your hotel in Cusco. You will only take the gear needed for the 4-day trip.

Train delays are rare but possible. Our operations team monitors all travel and we will make the necessary adjustments to ensure you complete your tour.

No, you will be completely disconnected. There is no mobile service or Wi-Fi in the Ausangate region. It is a true wilderness experience.

The limit is exactly 7 kg (15.4 lbs) per person. This includes your sleeping bag. Overweight bags cannot be accommodated for the welfare of our animals.

Due to the complex logistics involving trekking permits, train tickets, and Machu Picchu entrance times, this specific itinerary is not flexible. It must be followed exactly as described.

  • Gear: Warm sleeping bag (min. -10°C rating), waterproof hiking boots, and headlamp.
  • Layers: Thermal base layers, fleece, warm down jacket (essential for cold), and waterproof/rain gear.
  • Documents: Original passport and valid student ID (if applicable).
  • Daypack: Max. 25 liters (required for entry into Machu Picchu).
  • Water: Reusable water container (2-3 liters minimum). We provide boiled and purified water for refills.
  • Sundries: Sunscreen, waterproof gloves, face moisturizer, and personal medication.
