This 4 day tour to Ausangate is an out of the ordinary option that allows you to experience the beauty of the Andes in a perfect combination with machupicchu that will allow you to enjoy the beautiful natural attractions, which include ausangate’s beautiful glaciers, colorful lakes, precious wildlife and colorful mountains, and the last day you will enjoy the wonder of the world (machupicchu). In addition, you will hike through remote Andean villages that still maintain their traditions.

Day 1:
CUSCO - TINKI - UPIS-PUCACCOCHA

We will pick you up at 4:00 am from your hotel and drive in our private bus for about two hours to Tinki where we will make a stop and take the opportunity to visit the village Tinki and buy some snacks. Then we drive for an hour to upispampa. Once we arrive to upispampa we will have our first breakfast then you will meet your crew: chef, support staff (porter) and muleteers. Then we get ready for the three-hour hike to your lunch spot in the village of Upis at the foothills of Ausangate Mountain. After lunch, you will climb for another hour uphill to the first pass called arapa (4800 m.a.s.l./15,888 ft.) and then hike approximately three hours to your campsite at Pucaccocha. Along the way, there are breathtaking views of valleys, waterfalls and glacier peaks with abundant flora and fauna.

Day 2:
PUCA COCHA - ANANTA - KAYRAWIRI

 

Early in the morning after breakfast we will begin our ascent starting with the Puca Cocha pass (5000 m.a.s.l./16,550 ft.), the very colorful mountains surrounding you. In addition to having a spectacular view of Mount Ausangate and the colorful glacial lakes, it is then a gradual hike downhill for two hours to our lunch spot. After lunch, there will be a short climb to the Alpaca pass (4900 m.a.s.l/16,219) where you will be able to see a small part of the colorful mountain. After another hour of walking downhill, you will arrive at tonight's campsite. Here you will experience one of the most beautiful places to admire the Andean sky.

Day 3:
KAYRAWIRI - RAINBOW MOUNTAIN - RED VALLEY -OLLANTAYTAMBO-MACHUPICCHU

After a good night's rest we prepare for the last two hour hike uphill to reach the top of the colorful mountain, we will be the first to reach the mountain. Upon arrival, the views will be breathtaking, and because you will be the first to arrive very early, you will be able to get spectacular photographs of all the colors. Your guide will explain about the colors and minerals. After enjoying the RAINBOW MOUNTAIN for an hour, we head to visit the RED VALLEY, which takes another 30 minutes. Once you are ready to leave, you will descend for an hour and forty minutes to the end of the trail, where you will say goodbye to your trekking team and continue from this point alone with your guide.

It will be a 3 hour trip to Ollantaytambo, where you will have dinner before taking your train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village). You will have the opportunity to take a nice hot shower and sleep in a comfortable bed in a hotel in town.

Day 4:
MACHU PICCHU – OLLANTAYTAMBO - CUSCO

Today will be wonderful to visit Machu Picchu: have an early breakfast before taking one of the first buses to Machu Picchu (starting at 5:30 am). You will only need to carry your backpack with everything you need to Machu Picchu. The hotel will store your bags while you are in Machu Picchu. The bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu takes approximately 30 minutes. We take the first buses up to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise. Once in Machu Picchu, your guide will take you directly to the best place to watch the sunrise and take pictures. Your local guide will show you the main sectors of the citadel for a total of 3 hours. During this guided tour you will learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire, we recommend you to return to Aguas Calientes no later than 2 hours before the departure of your train. The return train ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo will take approximately 2 hours. In Ollantaytambo our staff will be waiting to take you back to Cusco by bus. The bus ride to Cusco will take approximately 2 hours and you will be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco.
