- without hesitation for this experience you don’t need to acclimatize.
For the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour we will pick you up from your hotel around 7:00 AM and head to Chinchero to see the first Inca ruins of the tour.
In Chinchero you will see the Inca sites and the colonial temple. Our guided tour of Chinchero lasts about 1 hour. Then we will visit the local market. After our visit to the market we will head to Moray for another guided tour where we will go out to explore the terraces of Moray, believed to be an ancient Inca agricultural experiment. We will then head to the salt mines of Maras, where we will witness firsthand the salt extraction method employed since Inca times.
Our next destination is Urubamba. We will arrive there around 12:00 noon. In this impressive town, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch which is not included in the tour. After lunch we will continue with our 30 minutes tour until we reach the Inca site of Ollantaytambo. This ruin was built with pink granite rocks and is another impressive example of Inca craftsmanship. Here you will see the second largest rock from the Inca period (90 tons) that was used as part of the Temple of the Sun. We will have a guided tour of the site. After exploring the Inca site of Ollantaytambo we will head to the train station. The trip to Aguas Calientes is two hours and you will spend the night in Aguas Calientes in a comfortable hotel.
This is the most beautiful day of the journey: we will visit Machu Picchu. We recommend that you wake up early to board the first bus at 5:30 AM.
Your guide will take you to take your postal photo of Machu Picchu, then you will start the guided tour of the main sectors of la citadel, for a period of 2 hours. During this guided tour, you will learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire. After the end of the tour, you will have time to walk on your own. The culmination of your sacred valley tour 2 days is here, offering uninterrupted time to explore the citadel. Finally, you will have to return to Aguas Calientes to have lunch and get ready for your train back to Ollantaytambo. From there we will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca city located high in the Andes, near Aguas Calientes, Peru. It was built in the 15th century by the Inca Empire and is known for its impressive architectural structures, agricultural terraces and panoramic views. Machu Picchu was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911 and is considered one of the wonders of the modern world.
To reach Machu Picchu from Cusco, the tour includes complete logistical transport: taking a train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. From Aguas Calientes, you will take a bus (approximately 30 minutes) that ascends directly to the entrance of the Citadel. The two main train companies are PeruRail and Inca Rail.
Generally, the visit to Machu Picchu lasts between 2 and 3 hours. If you wish to do additional trekking (such as climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain), you may need more time (approximately 4 to 6 hours in total).
The best time to visit Machu Picchu is during the dry season (April to October), when rainfall is less frequent. The most popular months to visit are June, July and August, but they are also the most crowded. The rainy season is from November to March, and the rains can make the trails slippery.
Yes, especially during the high season (April to October). It is highly recommended to purchase tickets to Machu Picchu at least 1-2 months in advance. Entrance tickets to trails such as Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain are limited, so it is important to reserve them in advance.
Small backpacks (up to 5 kg) and cameras are allowed, but no tripods or drones are allowed. Backpacks must be small in size and cannot carry large or dangerous objects. Also, keep in mind that camera and phone batteries should be sufficient for the day, as there are no chargers available at the site.
