Starting your 1 Day Inca Trail Challenge with Ali Peru Treks is the perfect solution for travelers with limited time who still wish to conquer the legendary Inca route to Machu Picchu on foot. This short, intense, and highly rewarding journey condenses the most breathtaking segments of the classic trail into one spectacular day of moderate trekking. Your adventure begins sharply at KM 104, where you step onto the ancient path. This route guides you through the lush cloud forest to the fascinating Wiñay Wayna archaeological site, famous for its stunning Inca terraces and structures. The effort culminates as you walk through the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), the Incas’ original entrance, providing your first, unforgettable panoramic view of the citadel below. A key tip from our local guides: Always start with a slow, deliberate pace at KM 104; the first two hours are the most intense ascent and require your energy and respect for the altitude.

Choosing Ali Peru Treks guarantees more than excellent logistics; it ensures a genuine, locally led experience defined by Trust and deep connection. We manage every logistical detail for you, including all train transportation, mandatory entrance permits, and quality sustenance, so you can focus solely on the moment. Your journey is a perfectly managed, long day that maximizes your time on the legendary trail while ensuring seamless logistics from Cusco and back. This itinerary focuses on your adventure, safety, and a complete historical experience. The day begins with an early pick-up around 04:00 AM from your hotel in Cusco, Urubamba, or Ollantaytambo. We then take our private transport to the Ollantaytambo train station, where we board the train for the scenic journey along the Sacred Valley River to KM 104 – Chachabamba. Upon arrival at 07:30 AM, we proceed immediately to the official checkpoint. Your original passport is mandatory. After the checkpoint, your adventure on the original Inca trail starts. We first visit the small Inca site of Chachabamba, an ancient administrative checkpoint, where your expert guide will provide the history before we continue with a gradual four-hour ascent.

The steady climb takes us to the incredible archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna, which means “eternal youth,” named for the abundant orchids in the area. After touring these stunning Inca terraces, we enjoy a well-deserved box lunch. Following lunch, we continue with an hour’s walk to Inti Punku, the legendary «Gateway of the Sun,» which grants you your first majestic and unforgettable panoramic view of Machu Picchu. We then descend for approximately 40 minutes to the citadel’s main platform for spectacular photos. We briefly exit Machu Picchu for necessary check-in, reentering around 03:00 PM for a 1.5-hour guided tour of Circuit 03, covering the most important temples and sections.

Around 04:30 PM, we take a bus down to Aguas Calientes for a well deserved dinner. Finally, we board the 06:20 PM train back to Ollantaytambo, where our private transport will be waiting to ensure a comfortable and safe transfer back to your hotel in Cusco, with an approximate arrival around 10:00 PM.
