The highest point on the Short Inca Trail is the Wiñay Wayna Pass, which is about 2,650 meters (8,694 feet) above sea level. Although it is less high than the Warmiwañusca Pass on the full Inca Trail, the altitude can still affect some people, so it is important to acclimatize in Cusco before starting the trek.
The Short Inca Trail is considered of moderate difficulty. It is 12 kilometers (6 miles) long and has an elevation gain of 2,000 feet (600 meters). The trail includes several uphill sections and some stairs, but is generally well maintained and not too strenuous. Most people find that they can complete the hike without significant problems.
Of course, as with any hike, there are always risks involved. Be prepared for the hike by carrying plenty of water and food and wear proper walking shoes. Also, be aware of your surroundings and don’t take unnecessary risks.
No, the Short Inca Trail can only be hiked with an authorized agency and an official guide. The Peruvian government regulates access to the trail, and all treks must be accompanied by certified guides.

Both tours are very similar; they follow the same route and visit the same places. The main difference is that during the Inca Trail with Camping you will sleep in comfortable tents under a sky of stars.
We recommend arriving in Cuzco at least 1 or 2 days before the trek. If arriving from higher altitudes, only one day is required for acclimatization.
The ideal season is from April to October, which is the dry season. The driest months are May to August.
The Short Inca Trail is located in the cloud forest region where the climate is warm and humid. The weather on the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu can be very unpredictable; it can be sunny during the day, be cloudy or even rain early in the morning and late in the afternoon.
We have 2 seasons in the Andes; the dry season (April to October) and the wet season (November to March). No matter what season you travel in, it is best to be prepared for all types of weather.
